University has gone 8-2 against Portola recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Trojans will host the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in University's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Portola has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between University and Irvine, and University kept the tradition alive. The Trojans came out on top against the Vaqueros by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

University had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 28-26, 25-22, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Portola hadn't done well against Woodbridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bulldogs walked away with a 3-1 win over the Warriors. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 25-14.

Portola's win bumped their record up to 11-7-1. As for University, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went University's way against Portola when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as University made off with a 3-0 win. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
