Football Game Preview: West St. John Rams vs. Varnado Wildcats + Official Tickets

For the first time this season, West St. John will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Varnado Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West St. John will be strutting in after a victory while Varnado will be coming in after a defeat.

West St. John is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing East Iberville: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Rams blew the Tigers out of the water with a 38-6 final score. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

West St. John's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kalon Gardner, who gained 257 total yards and a touchdown, and Achtion Barnes, who threw for 292 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. Gardner's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. West St. John's leading receiver Chance Bovie was Barnes' top target yet again, picking up 56 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

West St. John was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 309 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Meanwhile, Varnado played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 54-8 loss at the hands of Pine. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Varnado's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for West St. John, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

West St. John strolled past Varnado when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 22-6. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
