Basketball Recap: Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine Drops Season-High Score on Dugger Union

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine). They blew past the Dugger Union Bulldogs 61-34 on Saturday. The score was close at the half, but Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine pulled away in the second half with 43 points.

Genna Kidwell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 of 17 en route to 23 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 37 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Rachoy, who posted six points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Despite the defeat, Dugger Union had strong showings from Sage Stahl, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 21 rebounds, and Jordyn Smith, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. What's more, Stahl also racked up four blocks, the most she's had since back in November of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine and bumps their season record up to 10-13. As for Dugger Union, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-15.

Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-48 defeat against Martinsville on the 2nd. Dugger Union has also already played their next matchup, a 45-38 victory against Red Hill on the 1st.
