Volleyball Recap: Lakota West Starts off Right with Win over Little Miami

Lakota West gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They put the hurt on the Little Miami Panthers with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Firebirds were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Panthers, so the Firebirds were just returning the favor.

Lakota West had a senior duo take command as Brookelyn Humphrey had 20 digs and two aces and Allie Steckman had ten digs and two aces. Steckman is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Zoee Briggs was another key player, getting seven digs and three aces.

Lakota West was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Lakota West is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Harrison at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Little Miami, they will challenge West Clermont at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give the Panthers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
