Basketball Game Preview: St. Francis Knights vs. Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears

The St. Francis Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Francis knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Holy Innocents Episcopal likes a good challenge.

St. Francis is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Paideia just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took an 82-77 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pythons.

Despite their defeat, St. Francis saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Reynolds Escher, who went 10 for 17 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Greg Howard, who went 8 for 20 on his way to 24 points.

Meanwhile, Holy Innocents Episcopal came tearing into Saturday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 73-43 win over the Bulldogs. The Golden Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Holy Innocents Episcopal's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

St. Francis won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, slipping by Holy Innocents Episcopal 49-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Francis since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
