Basketball Game Preview: Chisholm Trail Rangers vs. Fossil Ridge Panthers

Two dominant guards in Kaden Richardson and Canyon Collier are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Chisholm Trail Rangers will venture away from home to take on the Fossil Ridge Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Chisholm Trail is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Aledo just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. The contest between them and the Bearcats didn't end well, with Chisholm Trail falling 47-33.

Despite the defeat, Chisholm Trail saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jesse Mutombo dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards gave Mutombo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Omari Johnson, who posted seven points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Fossil Ridge challenged Aledo on Friday. Fossil Ridge took a 53-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aledo. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 538th, while the Bearcats are ranked 93rd).

Fossil Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season. As for Chisholm Trail, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-8.

Chisholm Trail strolled past Fossil Ridge when the teams last played on January 3rd by a score of 49-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chisholm Trail since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
