Basketball Recap: Mercy Takes a Loss

Mercy was the 52-49 winner over St. Mary when they last played one another on January 11th, but their luck changed this time around. The Mercy Magic took a 46-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary's Saints.

It was another big night for Bailey Harris, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten boards for St. Mary's. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexandra Vandiver, who posted six points and ten rebounds.

Mercy's defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against McDonogh at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Mary's has already played their next matchup (against St. Frances Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
