Volleyball Recap: Omaha North's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Omaha North's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Benson Bunnies 3-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Omaha North wouldn't go down easily and took Benson into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 15-13.

Omaha North found their leader in freshman Giavonna Gunter, who had 11 digs and three aces. Those 11 digs set a new season-high mark for Gunter. Cara Travis also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Omaha North was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Omaha North's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-8. As for Benson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Omaha North will host Bryan at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benson has already played their next match (against Buena Vista), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
