Soccer Game Preview: John Paul II vs. Holy Cross

The John Paul II Centurions will venture away from home to face off against the Holy Cross Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. John Paul II is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.6 goals per game this season.

John Paul II's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top against The Christian School at Castle Hills by a score of 2-0. The result kept the Centurions happy, as they haven't lost a game since January 2nd.

Jacob Cantu and Teddy Chavez scored both of John Paul II's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Meanwhile, Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 6-0 to Incarnate Word Academy. The game was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Knights struggled afterwards.

John Paul II's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four contests. As for Holy Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

John Paul II took their victory against Holy Cross in their previous meeting on January 14th by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for John Paul II since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
