Payson waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came out on top against the Mountain View Bruins by a score of 56-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Lions also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Payson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Roundy, who went 5 of 10 en route to 18 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Roundy has been hot recently, having posted four or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emmy Hales, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and three blocks.

Payson was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted three assists.

Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaycee Carlson, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Amelia Suguturaga was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Payson pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Mountain View, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-5.

Payson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-23 win against Uintah on the 21st. Mountain View has also already played their next contest, a 51-49 loss against Provo on the 21st.
