Baseball Recap: Mt. Vernon Comes Up Short

Shelbyville hit Mt. Vernon with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Marauders fell 7-4 to the Golden Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 on Tuesday.

Mason Meyer was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

Mt. Vernon has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season. As for Shelbyville, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Vernon will take on Harrison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Shelbyville, they will challenge Indian Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
