Softball Game Preview: Hand Tigers vs. Lauralton Hall Crusaders

The Hand Tigers will square off against the Lauralton Hall Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hand will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Hand turned things around against Wilbur Cross on Monday. They blew past the Governors 18-2. The Tigers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25th (when they won 18-1).

Erin Cerny and Grace Hall made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Cerny tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hall tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Cerny posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. At bat, Cerny went 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base, while Hall went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alexa Young was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Phoebe Brennan, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Hand was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Lauralton Hall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Foran, falling 17-0. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Hand's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Lauralton Hall, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Everything went Hand's way against Lauralton Hall when the teams last played back in April, as Hand made off with a 17-0 win. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
