Baseball Game Preview: Palmetto Ridge Bears vs. Community School of Naples Seahawks

The Palmetto Ridge Bears will venture away from home to take on the Community School of Naples Seahawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Palmetto Ridge is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Palmetto Ridge proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over First Baptist Academy.

Greg Corrasco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Jayden Herrera was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Community School of Naples came up short against Saint Andrew's on Friday and fell 5-2. That's two games in a row now that the Seahawks have lost by exactly three runs.

Palmetto Ridge pushed their record up to 5-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.67 hits in those games compared to only 4.89 in the others. As for Community School of Naples, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Palmetto Ridge might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Community School of Naples when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Palmetto Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
