Basketball Recap: Jimtown Takes a Loss

Jimtown and Manchester squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Jimtown had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to the Squires. The Jimmies' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Several Jimmies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Branden King, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards. Dylan Fey was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 12 points.

Manchester had a senior duo take command as Gavin Betten dropped a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds and Ethan Hendrix shot 54% from the field to rack up 19 points and five boards. Betten has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 22 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tallon Torpy, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Jimtown's defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Manchester, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 25-2.

Jimtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Manchester, they have already played their next game, a 53-50 win against 21st Century Charter on the 22nd.
