Softball Recap: Aztec's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Aztec had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They blew past the Kirtland Central Broncos 14-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.

Aztec got a massive performance out of Cami Lucio, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Cheyenne Yellow was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base.

Aztec was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .469 or higher in four consecutive games.

Aztec's record is now 12-10. As for Kirtland Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Aztec will square off against Gallup at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bengals have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups. As for Kirtland Central, they will face off against Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
