Volleyball Recap: Monday's Defeat Ends Shorecrest Prep's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Shorecrest Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-match winning streak on Monday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Out-of-Door Academy Thunder. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Thunder apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 18-25, 25-11, 25-13.

Hayden Zielinski paced Shorecrest Prep's offense, picking up 12 kills. Zielinski really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 13. Olivia Nicklaus controlled things from the service line, finishing with eight aces.

Out-of-Door Academy was led to victory by Emmy Coachys and Isla Paterson. Coachys had seven digs and six aces, while Paterson had 31 digs and one assist. That's the most aces Coachys has posted since back in August of 2024.

Shorecrest Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Out-of-Door Academy, their record now sits at 14-7.

Shorecrest Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Keswick Christian on the 30th. As for Out-of-Door Academy, they will challenge Imagine School at North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
