Baseball Recap: Centennial Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Centennial lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Spring Valley, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's contest. The Bulldogs' pitchers stepped up to hand the Grizzlies a 12-0 shutout on Thursday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Gabriel Soto tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Jackson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2024. Terrell Otis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Centennial hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.

Centennial's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-16-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Centennial will challenge rival Faith Lutheran at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Spring Valley is set to square off against their familiar foe Liberty at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
