Volleyball Recap: Cora Boersema's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Churubusco over Westview

Churubusco suffered their biggest defeat since August 18th on Thursday. They came up short against the Westview Warriors, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 3-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Churubusco was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Westview work for it, especially in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-14, 27-25.

Churubusco lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Cora Boersema, who had eight digs and two aces. Alyssa Marks was another key player, getting 12 assists and five digs.

Westview was led to victory by Kylie Singleton and Briana (Bri) Kaufman. Singleton had 13 digs and two assists, while Kaufman had nine digs and two assists. Those 13 digs gave Singleton a new career-high.

Churubusco has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Westview, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.

Churubusco will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Triton at 10:00 a.m. As for Westview, they will host Garrett at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
