Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies

The Fairfield Falcons are headed away from home for the first time to take on the Plymouth Pilgrims/Rockies at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Fairfield duked it out with South Bend Adams on Friday. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Eagles. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Avery Christner was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Garrett Stoltzfus, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Plymouth made sure to put some runs up on the board against Huntington North on Saturday. The Pilgrims/Rockies came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 10-6. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Pilgrims/Rockies' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Preston Wolfe was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Wolfe was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Wolfe, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Ethan Hall was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Plymouth was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Huntington North only posted a batting average of .231.

Fairfield's record is now 2-0. As for Plymouth, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
