Basketball Recap: Mackay Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kaizer Summers and Cooper Holt

Mackay suffered their closest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Camas County Mushers by a score of 47-44. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Miners of the 78-64 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Despite the defeat, Mackay had strong showings from Cooper Holt, who posted six points along with 13 boards and six assists, and Kaizer Summers, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Holt a new career-high in assists.

Even though they lost, Mackay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Camas County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clancy Rablin led the charge by putting up 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Rablin has become a key player for Camas County: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 2-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Freeman, who scored 12 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Mackay's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Camas County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-9.

Mackay has already played their next contest, a 65-29 win against Sho-Ban on the 14th. Camas County has also already played their next game (against Victory Charter), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
