Preview: Praise Academy Lions vs. Holy Ground Baptist Academy Stallions
The Praise Academy Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Holy Ground Baptist Academy Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Praise Academy is ranked seventh, while Holy Ground Baptist Academy is ranked ninth).
Praise Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Lafayette Christian 22-16.
Kendall Davis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 162 yards and a touchdown. Davis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
Meanwhile, Holy Ground Baptist Academy stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Victory Baptist at home to the tune of 42-6. The win was familiar territory for Holy Ground Baptist Academy who now have four in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Holy Ground Baptist Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Samuel Wood, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Buchanan, who gained 134 total yards and three touchdowns.
With Praise Academy's loss and Lafayette Christian's win, both teams now sport identical 7-1 records.
Everything came up roses for Praise Academy against Holy Ground Baptist Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 56-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Praise Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
