Basketball Game Preview: North Port Bobcats vs. First Baptist Academy Lions

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the North Port Bobcats face off against the First Baptist Academy Lions at 2:20 p.m. on Saturday... The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: North Port has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while First Baptist Academy will arrive with six straight victories.

Last Wednesday, North Port was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Lemon Bay.

Meanwhile, First Baptist Academy strolled past Southwest with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 52-34. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Eagles are ranked 478th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Port's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for First Baptist Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.

North Port lost to First Baptist Academy on the road by a decisive 66-48 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can North Port avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
