Baseball Recap: Boylan Catholic Takes a Loss

Boylan Catholic lost against LaSalle-Peru back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Titans fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 4-3.

Boylan Catholic got a good showing from Aidan Baluch, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Baluch a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Noah McDermott was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Boylan Catholic's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 5-9-1 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Michael Davenport, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Boylan Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1. As for LaSalle-Peru, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

When Boylan Catholic and LaSalle-Peru next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Titans will try to stop Freeport's four-game winning streak when they meet at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, LaSalle-Peru will challenge Sycamore and their six-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
