Soccer Game Preview: Nelson County vs. Dan River

The Nelson County Governors will take on the Dan River Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nelson County's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 5-0 margin over Galileo. Considering Nelson County have won four matches by more than four goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Galileo with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jairo Chavez (2), Dawson Fitzgerald (2), and Elliot Kraemer.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Dan River and Altavista, and Dan River kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Colonels 3-2. That's two games straight that Dan River have won by just one goal.

The win made it two in a row for Nelson County and bumps their season record up to 4-1-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for Dan River, their win bumped their record up to 4-2-1.
