Basketball Recap: Council Grove Takes a Loss

Council Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 58-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Burlington Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 54-50 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Council Grove still got an impressive performance from Brycen Palmquist, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Council Grove is 7-1 when Palmquist posts eight or more boards, but 5-7 otherwise.

Council Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Burlington, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-3.

Looking ahead, Council Grove will challenge Trinity Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
