Basketball Recap: Denver Academy Skates Past Cripple Creek-Victor with Ease

Denver Academy won against Rocky Mountain Lutheran last Thursday with 68 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Denver Academy Mustangs blew past the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers, posting a 68-15 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mustangs also won the last time the pair played back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Denver Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Riley Allen, who went 9 for 15 on his way to 21 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. The contest was Allen's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Harrison Dority, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points along with seven assists and six steals.

Allen wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Denver Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in four consecutive matches.

Cripple Creek-Victor's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trevor Mirande, who posted five points and 13 boards, and Dylan Reyes, who had a point and five rebounds.

Denver Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Cripple Creek-Victor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Denver Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Dawson School at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Cripple Creek-Victor and Colorado School for the Deaf Blind will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cripple Creek-Victor is facing Colorado School for the Deaf Blind at the right time seeing as Colorado School for the Deaf Blind is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
