Preview: Chazy Eagles vs. Seton Catholic Central Knights
Chazy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Seton Catholic Central Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Chazy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully the Knights likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Chazy gave their fans yet another huge victory last Monday. They blew past Lake Placid 59-25 at home. While fans of Chazy might be used to big wins, the 34-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight defeat. They lost to Northeastern Clinton on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin. While losing is never fun, Seton Catholic Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 822nd, while the Cougars are ranked 405th).
Despite the loss, Seton Catholic Central had strong showings from Aiden Pearl, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 19 rebounds, and Oliver Hughes, who scored 16 points along with two steals. That was a full 42.5% of Seton Catholic Central's points, marking the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Chazy pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Seton Catholic Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.
Chazy was able to grind out a solid victory over the Knights in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 37-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chazy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
