Baseball Recap: Trinity Catholic Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Trinity Catholic's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Union County Fightin' Tigers by a score of 7-6. The Celtics were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fightin' Tigers earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

Trinity Catholic got a good showing from Josh Taylor, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Tommy Silva was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Colton Hardy, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Trinity Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Union County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Trinity Catholic and Union County's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Trinity Catholic will challenge North Marion at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, a team that's only allowed 2.75 runs per game. Similarly, Union County and Oakleaf (who has only given up 3.75 runs per game) will meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
