Volleyball Game Preview: Great Hearts Irving Mustangs vs. Decatur Eagles

After both having extra time off, the Great Hearts Irving Mustangs and the Decatur Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Great Hearts Irving came up short against Nolan Catholic and fell 3-1.

Great Hearts Irving actually scored more points across those four sets (90-87), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-22, 12-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Decatur faced Red River in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles lost 3-0 to the Rattlers. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

While Decatur was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Red River's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-17.

Great Hearts Irving's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Decatur, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
