West Central came tearing into Friday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points) and they left with even more momentum. They had just enough and edged the Pioneer Panthers out 32-30. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since December 16, 2023.

West Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sydney Mellon led the charge by putting up seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Mellon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Madisyn DeMoss was another key player, scoring six points in addition to nine boards and five blocks.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makenna Strycker, who posted 15 points and three steals. That was a full 50% of Pioneer's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia McKaig, who put up seven points and six rebounds.

West Central is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Pioneer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.

West Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-43 loss against Faith Christian on the 27th. Pioneer has also already played their next game (against Winamac), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
