Softball Game Preview: Centennial Apaches vs. Firebaugh Falcons

Centennial hasn't had much luck against Firebaugh recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Apaches will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Centennial has given up an average of 16.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Centennial is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They lost 14-4 to Lawndale.

Meanwhile, Firebaugh hadn't done well against Bellflower recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buccaneers, sneaking past 11-10. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Camila Curumaco was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Alexis Galindo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Firebaugh's victory ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Centennial might still be hurting after the 31-0 loss they got from Firebaugh in their previous matchup back in March of 2018. Can the Apaches avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
