Volleyball Recap: Evansville Central Victorious

Evansville Central posted their closest victory since August 27, 2024 on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Corydon Central Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Evansville Central took Corydon Central into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 15-13.

Summer Shelby paced Evansville Central's offense, picking up four kills. Shelby got some help from Lauren Lowe and her five assists. Shelby was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Evansville Central's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Corydon Central, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Evansville Central has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against New Albany on the 30th. As for Corydon Central, they will take on Lanesville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
