Volleyball Recap: Cherokee Extends Winning Streak to Five

Cherokee waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Robbinsville Black Knights 3-0. The Braves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Black Knights, too.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Cherokee was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-8, 25-10.

Cherokee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dvdaya Swimmer led the charge by getting 26 digs and three aces. Those 26 digs gave Swimmer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joscelyn Stamper, who had 14 kills, six digs, and two blocks.

They weren't the only good server: Cherokee was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive games.

Cherokee's record now sits at 11-6. As for Robbinsville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

Cherokee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Andrews on the 16th. As for Robbinsville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Franklin on the 15th.
