Baseball Recap: Hammond Central Wolves vs. Hobart Brickies
Hammond Central extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 7-12-1 in the process. They lost 14-2 to the Hobart Brickies. If the Wolves were looking for revenge after losing 15-3 to the Brickies when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Hammond Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Takeshi Turner, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That hit was Turner's first of the season.
As for Hobart, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9. 14 seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
On Hobart's side, Alex Martin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most hits Martin has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Alexander Mays, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hammond Central will head out to square off against River Forest at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The Ingots will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hobart, they will venture away from home to face off against New Prairie at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Brickies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
