Basketball Game Preview: Permian Panthers vs. Franklin Cougars

Permian hasn't had much luck against Franklin recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m.

Permian is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Midland Legacy on Tuesday. The Panthers lost to the Rebels on the road by a 43-28 margin. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Franklin waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 70-47 margin over the Spartans. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Permian's loss dropped their record down to 28-8. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 21-10.

Permian was dealt a bruising 64-36 defeat at the hands of Franklin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Thankfully for the Panthers, Emma Balsiger (who shot 6-for-7 from downtown and dropped a double-double with 32 points and 11 boards) won't be suiting up this time.
