Union Grove is 9-1 against Badger since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Badgers at 4:30 p.m. Union Grove will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Union Grove earned a 4-1 victory over Waukesha North.
Mikayla Bert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Emma Santarelli was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Forman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Union Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Badger came up short against Union Grove on Monday and fell 9-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Badgers in their meetings with the Broncos: they've now lost nine in a row.
Miah Butinas was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3.
Badger's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Union Grove, their win bumped their record up to 19-5.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Union Grove has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like Badger struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Union Grove beat Badger 9-4 when the teams last played on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
