Baseball Recap: Mooresville Starts Season with Win at Home

Mooresville took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Independence Patriots 13-1. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 11-9 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Connor Park tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Cole Intoppa was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Barber, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Mooresville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Independence only posted an OBP of .222.

Mooresville wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-8 loss against East Rowan on the 26th. As for Independence, they have also already played their next game, an 8-6 defeat against Pine Lake Prep on the 28th.
