Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Warriors vs. Lytle Pirates
After flying high against IDEA Frontier College Prep last Tuesday, Santa Rosa came back down to earth. The Santa Rosa Warriors took a blow against the Lytle Pirates on Thursday, falling 86-51. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1269th, while the Pirates are ranked 634th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lytle to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zacharee Perez, who went 13 of 25 on his way to 30 points and five assists. Perez's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pierce, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 boards.
Santa Rosa's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Lytle, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing La Vernia the next time they take the court. Santa Rosa will head out to face La Vernia at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, while Lytle will play them later in the day, at 2:15 p.m.
