Baseball Game Preview: St. John Eagles vs. Hammond Tornadoes

The St. John Eagles will face off against the Hammond Tornadoes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. John has seven straight victories, Hammond has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. John's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on East Iberville with a sharp 13-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Hammond came up short against Covington on Tuesday and fell 7-2.

Hammond saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Harland, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Hammond's defeat dropped their record down to 4-21. As for St. John, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

St. John came out on top in a nail-biter against Hammond in their previous matchup back in February of 2021, sneaking past 16-15. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tornadoes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
