Basketball Recap: Excelsior Classical Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Shadiamond Francis Service and Arihanna Williams

Excelsior Classical Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 27-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eno River Academy Bobcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flying Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-28 back in January.

Excelsior Classical Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Arihanna Williams, who posted seven points along with five boards and three steals, and Shadiamond Francis Service, who earned six points and five rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Excelsior Classical Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Eno River Academy to victory were Sadie Olson and Vivienne Matthews. Olson went 5 for 11 on her way to 11 points, while Matthews scored six points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Matthews a new career-high in boards.

Excelsior Classical Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Eno River Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Excelsior Classical Academy will head out to face off against Vance Charter at 5:00 p.m. on February 7th. Eno River Academy has already played their next contest, a 53-27 defeat against Roxboro Community on the 4th.
