Preview: Chatham Cavaliers vs. Dan River Wildcats
Chatham is 0-9 against Dan River since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chatham Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Dan River Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Chatham will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Chatham suffered a tough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Appomattox County.
Meanwhile, even though Nelson County scored an imposing 46 points on Friday, Dan River still came out on top. Dan River took their matchup against Nelson County 54-46.
Dan River's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stanford Lipscomb, who threw for 166 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Lipscomb was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Trevon Brooks was another key contributor, picking up 123 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Dan River's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Maleik Chappell and his two sacks.
Dan River's win bumped their season record to 3-4 while Chatham's loss dropped theirs to 5-2.
Chatham came up short against Dan River when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 21-14. Will Chatham have more luck at home instead of on the road?
