Baseball Recap: Kempsville Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Kempsville and Ocean Lakes squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Kempsville had to settle for second. They lost 13-3 to the Dolphins. The Chiefs have struggled against the Dolphins recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Kempsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Sutryk, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Sutryk is becoming a predictor of the Chiefs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 6-11 when he doesn't).

Kempsville now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Ocean Lakes, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-5.

Kempsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ocean Lakes, they will square off against Cox at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dolphins 2.4, the Falcons 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
