Basketball Recap: Federal Way's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Federal Way can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They managed a 44-38 victory over the Beamer Titans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 65-29 back in December of 2024.

Federal Way got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mariame Bongono out in front who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 19 boards. Bongono has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Bianca Lopez-Ventura, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 12 points and four steals.

Federal Way was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beamer only posted one assist.

Despite the loss, Beamer had strong showings from Jane Wanjiku, who went 7 of 16 on her way to 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals, and Kiana Smiley, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards. The dominant performance also gave Smiley a new career-high in blocks (two).

Federal Way's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Beamer, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Federal Way will face off against Enumclaw at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Beamer, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 38-22 loss against Kentlake on the 10th.
