Putting together a talent-heavy roster generally goes a long way toward producing deep postseason runs and claiming the hardware that goes along with winning state championships. However, there are no guarantees.

Sometimes the hardware is attained simply because the champion gets hot at the right time, sneaks up on the rest of the field and steals the show.

While the usual hombres are once again favorites to win it all in Nebraska, so long as they survived the chaos that is Nebraska boys district basketball, MaxPreps is taking a look at those Cornhusker State teams that are hot at the moment. Some of the names on our Nebraska Top 10 boys basketball winning streaks post won't surprise our readers — but some may.

Defending state champions Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur Northeast and Auburn grab the top two spots in this week's Top 10 with 49- and 33-game winning streaks that date back to last season, respectively.

Class D2 power Humphrey St. Francis and 2019 Class B semifinalist Omaha Skutt Catholic also finished the regular season with perfect records and sit 3-4 with 25 and 23 game win streaks, respectively. Sutton, meanwhile, rounds out the Top 5 after winning 18 straight contests to conclude the regular season.

Classes A, B, C1, C2 and D2 are all represented in this week's Top 10. Class D1's North Platte St. Patrick's is the owner of its classification's longest winning streak, but just missed the Top 10 with seven straight triumphs. Defending Class D1 state champion Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family and Osmond have each won six straight contests.

While Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur Northeast, Auburn, Humphrey St. Francis and Omaha Skutt Catholic all made it through regular season and district play undefeated, top-ranked clubs Falls City Sacred Heart and Hastings Adams Central made this week's Top 10 with one loss each.

Ten boys basketball programs have won 10 straight games – or more — and they are ready for the rip roaring postseason basketball fun coming their way in March.

On the first line we have provided the school, its updated won-loss record and the winning streak the school is currently on. The second line lists each school's MaxPreps Ranking as of Tuesday — locally and nationally – and the third line informs the reader of each school's last loss and the date it occurred on.
