Basketball Recap: Klayton Tew Key Part of Team Effort in Cougars Win

Neuse Charter's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top against the Rosewood Eagles by a score of 55-44. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 39-38 last Wednesday.

Neuse Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Klayton Tew, who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Neuse Charter is 3-1 when Tew posts five or more steals, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tev Collins, who put up eight points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Despite the defeat, Rosewood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braxson Waters scored 14 points. Tielen Mccrae was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

The victory got Neuse Charter back to even at 11-11. As for Rosewood, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.

Neuse Charter has already played their next contest, a 73-48 loss against Lakewood on the 11th. As for Rosewood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-53 defeat against North Duplin on the 10th.
