Basketball Recap: Kaylee Wrenn Key Part of a Team Effort in Lions Win

There's no place like home for Kaufman, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took down the Terrell Tigers 52-34 on Tuesday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Tigers are ranked 663rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kaufman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaylee Wrenn out in front who posted 15 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Wrenn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubre Prox, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Wrenn wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Kaufman was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Terrell only posted seven assists.

Terrell's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubree Tate, who had 22 points and three steals. Those 22 points gave Tate a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Markeita Shaw, who put up three points along with 11 rebounds and five assists.

Kaufman pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Terrell, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-15.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Kaufman Lions face off against the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Kaufman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. As for Terrell, they will welcome Midlothian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
