Baseball Recap: Hobbton Wins Going Away Against Lakewood

Hobbton owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Lakewood Leopards. Considering the Wildcats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Caden Martin's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Hobbton's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Neal, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Lathan Warren, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Hobbton and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Lakewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Hobbton is set to challenge their familiar foe Union at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hobbton's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Union has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Lakewood will square off against rival Neuse Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
