Preview: Providence Catholic Celtics vs. Benet Academy Redwings
The Providence Catholic Celtics will be playing at home against the Benet Academy Redwings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Friday, Providence Catholic was beaten by Chicago Mt. Carmel 43-9. Providence Catholic was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-7.
Meanwhile, Benet Academy had to suffer through a rough 41-7 loss at the hands of Loyola Academy. While losing is never fun, Benet Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Loyola Academy is ranked second).
This is the second loss in a row for Providence Catholic and nudges their season record down to 4-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Carmel (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 93.8% over those games). As for Benet Academy, their defeat also dropped their record down to 4-4.
