Softball Preview: Independence Knights vs. Memorial Warriors
Independence is 0-9 against Memorial since March of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Knights will square off against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m.
Last Friday, Independence didn't have quite enough to beat Emerson and fell 4-3.
Independence saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Stormy DANIEL, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kamryn BLOODWORTH also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Memorial). They put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 19-3 win on Friday. Considering the Warriors have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Megan Wilson made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Caiden Coleman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Zoey Chasko was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
