Baseball Game Preview: Carroll County Panthers vs. Austin Eagles

The Carroll County Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Austin Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carroll County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Carroll County got the win against Trimble County by a conclusive 11-1. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Landon Miller tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bryce Furnish, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Carroll County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Trey Miller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Carroll County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .435. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trimble County only posted a batting average of .062.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Austin and Corydon Central, and Austin kept the tradition alive. The Eagles never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Monday. The Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 19, 2025 (when they won 12-2).

The victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Carroll County, their record is now 7-4.
